Ukrzaliznytsia plans to equip old cars with ramps by the end of 2027

Ukrzaliznytsia is expanding the use of ramps for barrier-free boarding of passengers. Currently, 167 cars are already equipped with them, and such devices should gradually appear in old rolling stock.

Ramps for boarding from high platforms are already available in new cars of flagship trains. They are also installed in all children’s and inclusive cars. Such trains have a corresponding mark in the Ukrzaliznytsia application.

Ramps can be used by passengers who have difficulty getting onto the train on their own. In particular, they make boarding and disembarking easier for disabled veterans, people with mobility impairments, and parents with children in wheelchairs.

Ukrzaliznytsia already equips all new cars with such ramps. The company is manufacturing new lightweight ramps for old cars.

The old fleet is planned to be modernized within the next year and a half. Ukrzaliznytsia wants to complete the work by the end of 2027.
