Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing dynamic pricing for premium segment tickets after public discussions on the relevant order have been completed. The new rules will come into effect on April 25 and will apply only to a portion of passengers, while the basic fares will remain unchanged.
This is reported by Ukrzaliznytsia .
It is noted that the changes will affect only SV (luxury) and 1st class cars of Intercity trains in domestic traffic. At the same time, fares for 2nd class tickets, as well as compartment and reserved seat cars, remain socially oriented and have not been revised since 2021.
The cost of tickets in the premium segment will be determined by four main factors:
- seasonality;
- day of the week;
- advance ticket purchase;
- train occupancy.
The company explains that during periods of lower demand, when occupancy is 70–80%, prices will be lower, while during peak periods, particularly in August, prices will increase. In total, 16 seasonality zones are provided.
The day of travel will be taken into account separately: the lowest prices will be set on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and the highest on Fridays and Sundays. The price will also depend on how many days before departure the ticket is purchased.
“The new approach will encourage planning trips in advance and buying tickets more profitably,” Ukrzaliznytsia noted.
Another factor will be the train occupancy . If the train is 90–100% full, the price may increase, and if there are free seats before departure, it may decrease. At the same time, this mechanism will be implemented separately after the IT systems are finalized.
The company emphasizes that such changes will affect less than 10% of passengers using the premium segment.
In addition, it was agreed to index fares for travel in SV carriages of international trains by approximately 20%. The new prices will apply to tickets with a departure date from April 18, 2026.
Ukrzaliznytsia noted that seats in SV cars of international trains are being bought up the fastest, which indicates increased demand in this segment. At the same time, it was decided to leave tariffs for other types of seats in international trains unchanged this season.
By the way, Ukrzaliznytsia has updated the schedule of suburban trains on popular routes in the Kyiv agglomeration and added eight regional routes. The changes concern the connection between Kyiv and Hrebinka, Nizhyn, and Konotop, and also partially adjust the schedule of other trains.
As reported, Ukrzaliznytsia, together with Moldovan partners, is implementing a test trip to the station near Chisinau airport.
