US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that the option for resolving the war proposed by Russia during the talks in Anchorage had no chance of being implemented because it was unacceptable to Ukraine. According to him, new approaches must be sought to achieve peace.

This is reported by “European Truth”.

While speaking to reporters in Manila, where Rubio met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, he was asked to comment on the relevance of the Russian proposals voiced in Anchorage.

According to the US Secretary of State, the plan, which the Russian side called the “3+2” formula and which provided for territorial division, was not implemented due to the lack of Ukraine’s consent.

“A peace agreement cannot be concluded if it is not supported by both sides. Ukraine did not agree to these proposals, so they did not yield results,” Rubio emphasized.

He added that there is now a need to look for new ideas and mechanisms to achieve peace, as the previous approach remains unacceptable to Kyiv.

According to Rubio, the United States is ready to offer new concepts for a peaceful settlement if the appropriate conditions are created.

It was previously reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, during a meeting with Marco Rubio, stated Russia’s readiness for a political and diplomatic settlement of the war and called for a halt to the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
