“Unified Defense Space”: The Government has merged the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Strategic Industry

On Monday, July 21, the government merged the Ministry of Strategic Industries into the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

This was announced by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.

“This decision creates a single space of defense management and strengthens the coordination and interaction of all its elements,” Shmyhal noted.

He also added that all functions of the Ministry of Strategic Industry will be integrated into the Ministry of Defense, namely: the functions of attracting investments in the defense industry, cooperation with partners in the defense sector, including joint weapons production.

Shmyhal stated that all organizational procedures for the unification will be completed as soon as possible for maximum efficiency.

Recall that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Denys Shmyhal as the new Minister of Defense. 267 people’s deputies voted for this decision .

By the way, on July 17, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the appointment of Yulia Svyrydenko as Prime Minister of Ukraine .
