Drones attacked a substation in the Veshkaymsky district of the Ulyanovsk region on the night of November 17. Russian authorities reported that the attack was allegedly repelled, but NASA satellite data recorded a fire at the facility.

It is worth noting that on the night of November 17, Russian resources published information about a drone attack on the Veshkaym substation. The governor of the Ulyanovsk region, Alexey Russky, stated on his Telegram channel that the incident did not result in any casualties or injuries.
“An attack by enemy UAVs on a substation in the Veshkaym district was repelled. There were no victims or injuries. Special services are working at the site of the debris fall. Power supply to settlements is carried out as usual,” Ruskykh noted.
Following statements by Russian officials, the NASA Firms satellite service recorded the center of the fire at the 500 kV Veshkaym substation, located in the village of the same name.
It is reported that the Veshkayma substation is an important energy hub in the Volga region. It provides a connection between the power systems of the Ulyanovsk region, Mordovia, Chuvashia and Samara region. Significant amounts of electricity pass through the substation, in particular from the Syzran and Zhigulyovsk hydroelectric power stations, which supply electricity to the central regions of Russia.
The substation is owned and maintained by a branch of PJSC “Rosseti” – MEM Volga.
