Up to 100 billion euros for Ukraine: EU prepares new cooperation program

The future budget of the European Union proposes to allocate up to 100 billion euros for a new cooperation program with Ukraine.

This was stated by European Council President Antonio Costa in an interview with Ukrinform.

He noted that the new political season in the EU, which will begin in September, should be remembered for the adoption of the next important budget of the European Union, as well as progress in the enlargement process for Ukraine, Moldova and the Western Balkan countries.

Speaking about financing support for Ukraine in the future budget, Costa noted that this issue is currently being discussed by EU member states.

“This issue is currently being discussed by member states, but the European Commission’s proposal includes a new cooperation program with Ukraine worth up to 100 billion euros,” said the President of the European Council.

In particular, the draft budget of the European Union for 2028–2034 provides for record spending — about 2 trillion euros.

It was previously reported that the European Union plans to accelerate financing for Ukraine’s defense needs in the coming weeks. A new tranche under the large-scale loan program is expected in early September.
