Up to minus 30 degrees: State Emergency Service declares red level of danger
A wave of severe frost is approaching Ukraine. According to weather forecasters, the air temperature will drop sharply across almost the entire country in the coming days.
This is reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
According to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, on the night of February 1-3, except for Transcarpathia and the southern part of the country, the temperature will drop to minus 20-27 degrees. In Kyiv, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Sumy, Poltava and Kharkiv regions, as well as in Kyiv, minus 20-25 degrees are expected.
It will also remain cold during the day – the thermometer will drop to minus 15-22 degrees. In some areas, frosts of minus 30 are possible, which corresponds to the highest, red, level of danger.
According to preliminary data, on February 4-5, frosts will begin to weaken in the west and southwest of Ukraine.
In addition, fog with visibility of 200-500 meters will persist in Kyiv and Kyiv region until the end of the day on January 29. Level I of danger – yellow – has been declared in the region.
The State Emergency Service urges drivers and pedestrians to be careful on the roads.
