Participants in the four-party talks in Switzerland have agreed on a roadmap for a final agreement between the United States and Iran. The document envisages the start of a new phase of technical negotiations and the preparation of a final agreement within 60 days.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

A joint statement from Qatar and Pakistan said the summit on Lake Lucerne was held in a “positive and constructive atmosphere.” The meeting resulted in progress, including an agreement on a mechanism for further technical talks.

According to the agreements, a High-Level Committee will be established to oversee the negotiation process. The negotiating teams will regularly report to it on the implementation of all agenda items, including the Iranian nuclear program, sanctions, and monitoring and resolution of disputes during the implementation of the June 17 memorandum.

“The high-level committee agreed on a roadmap to reach a final agreement within 60 days, laying the groundwork for the immediate start of further technical negotiations,” the joint statement said.

Separately, the parties agreed to establish communication channels to prevent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz. This decision should ensure the unhindered passage of ships during the negotiation process.

In addition, the negotiating teams agreed to establish a group to resolve the conflict in Lebanon, with the participation of Lebanese representatives. Its task will be to find agreements on the cessation of hostilities in the country.

Details of the agreements reached are not being disclosed at this time.

“The mediating parties will continue to do everything possible to ensure that the negotiations continue in a constructive atmosphere with the aim of reaching a final agreement,” the statement said.

It was previously reported that the US-Iran talks in Switzerland were in jeopardy after US President Donald Trump’s harsh statements against Tehran. The Iranian delegation left the meeting, and the further fate of the negotiation process remains unknown.

The day before, Iran restricted the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz , despite signing an agreement with the United States. At the same time, the United States, according to journalists, gave Iran assurances that Israel would not intensify attacks in Lebanon.
