US and Iran failed to make progress in talks – media

The United States and Iran have yet to make progress in talks to end the war in the Middle East and restore the interim agreement the parties reached in June.
This was reported by Reuters, citing a high-ranking Iranian source.
According to him, Washington and Tehran still have significant differences over the implementation of the agreements.
The US accuses Iran of failing to fulfill its obligations to restore shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian side, in turn, claims that Washington has not lifted the blockade of ports and has not returned frozen Iranian assets.
Tehran also denied information about a possible extension of the 60-day period during which the US and Iran were supposed to reach a final agreement on the Iranian nuclear program and sanctions.
The Iranian side claims that it was the US that violated the terms of the interim agreement and actually withdrew from it just a few days after signing.
Thus, the parties are currently no closer to resuming the agreements, and key disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz, sanctions, and frozen assets remain unresolved.
It was previously reported that on the night of July 15, the United States launched a new series of strikes on Iranian military facilities and announced the resumption of a naval blockade of ships heading to or leaving Iranian ports .
It was also reported that Iranian cruise missiles hit two tankers flying the flag of the United Arab Emirates in the Strait of Hormuz . The attack killed one crew member and injured eight others, including two Ukrainian citizens.
