Despite nearly two weeks of bombing by the US and Israel, the Iranian regime is showing no signs of falling anytime soon .
Reuters reports this , citing sources familiar with American intelligence assessments .
According to them , intelligence reports indicate that the regime in Tehran continues to control the situation inside the country. One such document was prepared a few days ago .
Even after the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the first strikes , the system of power did not collapse. The country’s spiritual leadership has maintained unity, and key structures continue to function.
The attacks killed dozens of senior officials and several commanders of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps , but the group, which controls much of the economy and security forces, remains in power , along with a new interim leadership .
Israeli officials, as Reuters notes , also admit in private conversations that there is no certainty that war will automatically lead to the fall of the regime.
Meanwhile, the situation inside Iran remains tense. According to the agency’s sources , the internal dynamics may change.
Earlier, Iran’s Assembly of Experts, at an extraordinary meeting, elected Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei as the country’s new supreme leader . He became the third spiritual leader of the republic after the death of his father.
Recall that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of a US and Israeli operation.
