US House of Representatives Committee approves Graham’s bill on sanctions against Russia

The US House of Representatives Rules Committee last night approved, without any changes, Senator Lindsey Graham’s bill to strengthen sanctions against Russia.

The document can then be submitted to the full House of Representatives for consideration. There are two remaining steps: a procedural vote and a direct vote on the bill. In both cases, a simple majority of 50% plus one vote is sufficient.

A procedural vote is expected on September 15. The House of Representatives session is scheduled to begin at around 12:00 Washington time, and the vote itself is expected to take place around 1:30 p.m. Kyiv time, which is 7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.

If the bill successfully passes the procedural vote, the final vote on it could take place as early as September 16 in the afternoon Washington time, that is, in the evening Kyiv time.
