US imposes sanctions on Chinese companies for transferring intelligence to Iran

The United States has imposed sanctions on three Chinese commercial satellite companies, accusing them of providing Iran with intelligence to attack American targets in the Middle East. Another entity involved in the transmission of satellite data has also been targeted.

This is reported by the Financial Times .

The US State Department said it had imposed sanctions on The Earth Eye, MizarVision and Chang Guang Satellite Technology, which it said could have provided Iran with satellite imagery of military facilities used by the US and its allies in the region.

Washington claims that the satellite data was received by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. According to the American side, this material could be used to plan strikes on American targets in the Middle East.

Journalists note that Iranian military coordinates and satellite imagery were sometimes updated several days before the attacks.

“Today’s actions hold Chinese entities accountable for their support for Iran,” said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

He also stated that the United States will continue to pressure countries and entities that assist Iran’s military infrastructure.

By the way, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov regarding the situation in the Middle East. The parties expressed their intention to cooperate to reduce tensions and achieve a ceasefire.

It was previously reported that Iranian ships had left China with a cargo of chemicals that could be used in Iran’s ballistic missile program . They were captured at a Chinese port before being shipped to Iran.

Recall that American intelligence suggests that China may provide Iran with financial assistance, spare parts, and missile components amid the war.
