US lifts sanctions on former Russian Finance Minister Zadornov

The US has lifted sanctions on former Russian Finance Minister Mikhail Zadornov.

This was reported by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Treasury Department.

Zadornov has been under sanctions since 2022, when he headed Otkritie Bank.

In 2024, he filed a lawsuit in a US court demanding the restrictions be lifted, stating that there was no basis for their introduction.

Mikhail Zadornov served as Russia’s Minister of Finance from 1997 to 1999.

It was previously reported that the US lifted sanctions on three Russian vessels.

As a reminder, the US partially lifted sanctions on Belarusian state structures after the release of political prisoners by the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.
