US plans to try Russians who were on a seized oil tanker

The White House announced that the United States plans to prosecute the crew of an oil tanker seized by the US Coast Guard and military.
This was stated by spokeswoman Caroline Levitt.
She said that the seized ship belonged to the Venezuelan “shadow fleet” and was transporting sanctioned oil.
Separately, she emphasized that a court order for arrest had been issued for the tanker, meaning that the crew is subject to prosecution for violating the law.
“And if necessary, it (the crew — ed.) will be delivered to the United States for such prosecution,” Levitt added.
According to her, the United States is not afraid of aggravating relations with Russia, and US President Donald Trump will comply with American laws no matter what.
As a reminder, the United States of America conducted an operation to seize the oil tanker Mariner , bound for Venezuela and flying the Russian flag.
Earlier, Russia reacted to the seizure by the United States of an oil tanker flying the Russian flag – the Foreign Ministry demands that the American side treat the Russians on board humanely.
