US plans trilateral talks with Ukraine and Russia in October – media

The US wants to bring together representatives of Ukraine and Russia at the same table in October to agree on a halt to attacks on energy facilities. The American side should also join the negotiations, and the meeting could be held in Abu Dhabi.
This is reported by The Atlantic, citing one of the representatives of the Ukrainian negotiating team.
According to him, US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are working on organizing the meeting.
One of the main topics is the so-called energy truce. The US wants Ukraine and Russia to commit not to attack each other’s power plants, oil refineries and other energy facilities.
Separately, the parties may agree to stop attacks on cargo ships in the Black Sea. This primarily concerns grain ships heading to the Middle East and Africa. Such an agreement is planned to be concluded through the mediation of Egypt.
At the same time, Washington wants to organize a personal meeting between Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Vladimir Putin.
Putin has already been invited to the G20 summit, which is scheduled to take place in Miami in December. There, Trump may try to organize talks with Zelensky. The Russian side has not yet given a final response to the invitation.
As a reminder, US President Donald Trump’s special representative, John Cole, proposed a new approach to relations with Russia – to seek the release of political prisoners in exchange for a gradual easing of sanctions and the restoration of economic ties.
