Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced the United States’ readiness to deploy its military in Ukraine after peace is achieved.
This was reported by Ukrinform.
According to the official, the US declaration on security guarantees, which, among other things, refers to the deployment of troops, was an important result of the negotiations in recent days.
It is assumed that American soldiers could be deployed on the “border or contact line between Ukraine and Russia.”
“These unambiguous declarations have appeared for the first time. We will see how consistent our partners on the other side of the Atlantic will be, but this gives hope for the successful conclusion of these talks. I consider the end of the war to be a success,” Tusk said.
In addition, he emphasized that this would require a “compromise approach” on the issue of territories from Ukraine.
“President Zelensky demonstrates a lot of goodwill on this issue. From his point of view, and this is understandable, a referendum is necessary. The Ukrainian people should give their consent to territorial decisions. And it is obvious that this possible consent should be conditioned by real, well-thought-out security guarantees for Ukraine after a possible peace is achieved,” the Polish Prime Minister added.
Earlier, UK Defense Minister John Healy said that his country is ready to send its military personnel to Ukraine , but only after peace is achieved.
Recall that France, Germany and Turkey have declared their readiness to send a peacekeeping contingent to Ukraine after the end of the war.
