The US Senate has accused the Trump administration of failing to enforce effective sanctions against Russia. Senator Elizabeth Warren said the White House has not curbed the Kremlin’s energy revenues — funds Moscow continues to use to wage war.
Reuters reports this.
Warren emphasized that the Trump administration has effectively allowed China to purchase Russian LNG at a discount, including gas from the Arctic LNG-2 project. According to her, since August alone, China has received at least 14 shipments of gas at a 30–40% discount. The senator noted that these funds enable Russia to continue its aggression against Ukraine.
In October, the US imposed sanctions on Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. The Trump administration stated that it did not rule out additional restrictions. Following another appeal by Warren, the State Department responded that it would “carefully consider” the issue of sanctions on Arctic LNG-2.
Earlier, it was reported that US President Donald Trump accused the Ukrainian authorities of a lack of gratitude for his efforts to end the war.
