The US Senate has approved Donald Trump’s $4.5 trillion tax and spending cuts bill, overcoming a key procedural vote in the upper chamber of Congress despite pressure from Democrats.

Reuters reports this.

The vote came during a busy weekend session. 51 senators voted in favor of the bill, 49 against. Two Republicans joined the opposition. The bill would fund key Trump initiatives, including immigration, border control, defense, and tax policy.

Critics of the bill, including Democrats and some Republicans, say it provides excessive tax breaks to the wealthy while cutting spending on programs to support low-income people. Senator Rand Paul opposed it because it risks adding an additional $5 trillion to the national debt.

Billionaire Elon Musk also came out with sharp criticism. He wrote on social media:

“The latest Senate bill will destroy millions of American jobs and cause enormous strategic damage to our country! Absolutely insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while seriously harming industries of the future.”

Recall that US President Donald Trump is “losing patience” with billionaire Elon Musk over his criticism of the tax and appropriations bill.

As reported, former advisor to US President Trump, Elon Musk, called the new domestic policy bill “an abomination.”

In addition, the administration of US President Donald Trump is trying to force Senator Lindsey Graham to significantly weaken the new bill on sanctions against Russia.

By the way, the US Senate has postponed the introduction of tougher sanctions against Russia until at least July. The reason for the delay is the conflict between Iran and Israel.
