US to consult with Europe before Trump-Putin meeting – Tusk

The United States has promised to consult with European partners before a meeting between President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Donald Tusk stressed the importance of preserving the integrity of Ukraine. He added that this is not only a matter of solidarity with its neighbor, but also a security issue for Poland itself.

“Poland and our European partners must clearly understand that borders cannot be changed by force, and Russia must not be allowed to benefit from its invasion of Ukraine,” Tusk said.

He added that the West, including European countries, will not accept Russian demands, which simply amount to seizing Ukrainian territory.

According to Tusk, some parts of Putin’s proposal regarding the territory appear “one-sided”, and it is not difficult to see why it is unacceptable to Ukraine.

The Polish prime minister also warned Russia against thinking it can challenge other countries’ borders with impunity. He cited Poland’s history to reiterate the principle of “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”

Recall that US President Donald Trump informed European leaders of his intention to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin , and later to organize a trilateral meeting with the participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

By the way, a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is scheduled for the end of next week .

Earlier, NATO Secretary General Rutte said that the Alliance countries will continue to supply weapons to Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the meeting scheduled for August 15 between US President Donald Trump and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin .
