The US will fund programs to return Ukrainian children who were forcibly taken away by Russia.
This was reported by the US State Department.
This is about $25 million, which will be directed towards the identification, return, and rehabilitation of children and youth.
The funding covers two key areas: searching and tracking deportees, and supporting the government of Ukraine and partner organizations in the recovery and assistance of returned children.
The State Department emphasized that this decision is part of a broader policy of supporting war victims and protecting the rights of the civilian population.
The allocated funds will complement existing assistance programs aimed at supporting people affected by Russian aggression.
The United States is currently coordinating with Ukrainian partners to effectively use the funding.
It was previously reported that Russian state-owned energy companies may be involved in the removal of Ukrainian children from the occupied territories and their subsequent ideological influence.
