US used HIMARS with new missile: details

The US used the new PrSM missile against Iran for the first time.

This was reported by the US Central Command CENTCOM, which released a video of the launch from the HIMARS rocket system.

The Precision Strike Missile was developed by Lockheed Martin as a replacement for the aging MGM-140 ATACMS. It has a maximum range of up to 500 kilometers, compared to 300 kilometers for the previous version.

The PrSM has received an upgraded guidance system that combines inertial navigation and GPS, and provides higher accuracy of destruction. The warhead weighs about 91 kilograms.

The missile is designed to hit control points, air defense systems, warehouses, airfields, radar stations, and other well-protected objects.

Serial production of PrSM started in July 2023.

As previously reported, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported on Russia’s use of the new Izdelye-30 cruise missile against Ukraine.

As a reminder, Iran is building up its arsenal of long-range missiles and drones, which are theoretically capable of hitting not only Middle Eastern countries, but also parts of Europe, including Ukraine.
