A coordinated campaign targeting representatives of the Centre for Civil Liberties (CCC) has emerged in Ukraine — a troubling sign of growing pressure on civil society amid war and political uncertainty.

First, Vinnytsia – night clashes with the police of representatives of some strange NGO, who came to rescue a conscript.

A day later, in the Mykolaiv region, there was a direct attack with sticks and bats on representatives of the CCC who were engaged in the alert.

Now we read: near Rivne, unknown individuals blocked a car carrying a conscript, demanding his release.

And finally, in Cherkasy, a guy threatened to detonate a grenade when they started demanding his military registration documents. The last case may not be about this, but it completes the overall picture.

Why is the enemy advancing at the front? Slowly, but steadily — and one of the key reasons is a shortage of personnel.

A priori, Ukraine has fewer people than Russia. But right now, we simply don’t have enough troops.
Why? One major reason is the ongoing challenges with mobilization.

And why is mobilization problematic? There are many contributing factors, but one of them lies within the CCC system. I use the term broadly here: each person involved can likely identify their examples and specifics.

The enemy exploits this weakness with precision, targeting CCCs with information attacks, sending provocateurs as kamikazes, and mobilizing so-called “useful idiots” to discredit CCC representatives.

Meanwhile, those who once (yes, once — past tense!) had grievances with the CCC watch this unfold and gloat. Such scenes are then captured and amplified across enemy Telegram channels, tailored to shape public opinion and undermine the legitimacy of the CCC’s work.

I just explained in simple terms how the mobilization process — overseen by the Military Enlistment Offices (CCC) — is being deliberately undermined. Despite their flaws, these institutions are currently the only bodies responsible for replenishing our troops.

And our troops are retreating. Slowly, but they are — because there simply aren’t enough people.

What’s being imposed on you is a dangerous substitution of meaning: the war, they say, continues not because Russia attacked Ukraine and wants to destroy it, but because Ukraine is mobilizing. Stop mobilizing, and the war will end — peace will follow.

But that’s a lie. In reality, halting mobilization is one of Putin’s conditions. That’s called capitulation.

And while we can still restore order within our CCCs — or at least demand that such order be restored — we won’t be able to negotiate with those who will come after surrender.

Let’s not forget who the real enemy is.
