Vance is first on the list: Trump outlines a circle of potential successors

US President Donald Trump said during a press conference on August 5 that Vice President J.D. Vance is one of the main contenders to become his political successor.

In response to reporters’ questions about whether he considered Vance “the heir to MAGA,” Trump noted that the vice president was “most likely” the frontrunner among possible candidates.
“Of course, it’s too early to say. But he’s certainly doing a great job and is probably the favorite at the moment,” Trump said.
The president also mentioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio and suggested that he “maybe team up with Vance in some form.” At the same time, Trump added that there are other “incredible people” in the Republican Party who could continue his political line.
