On Monday, August 11, US President Donald Trump held a press conference addressing key topics concerning the resolution of the war in Ukraine.

In particular, he announced that on Friday, August 15, he would travel to Russia to meet with Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin.

“You know, I’m going to meet with Putin. I’m going to Russia on Friday,” the American president stated.

However, Trump appeared to make a mistake, later clarifying that Putin would be traveling to Alaska, where the meeting is scheduled to take place.

At the same time, he noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would not be attending the summit, adding that over the past three and a half years, Zelenskyy has participated in various meetings that have yielded no tangible results.

Furthermore, Trump emphasized that during the meeting with Putin, he will demand an end to the war. The American leader also assured that there would be territorial exchanges in favor of Ukraine, which would alter the frontline.

“The next meeting will be between Zelenskyy and Putin. Or Zelenskyy, Putin, and me,” Trump said.

Additionally, he explained why he had not imposed the promised sanctions against Russia. According to Trump, he had intended to do so but received information that Moscow desired a meeting, so the issue of tariffs would be addressed after the summit.
