Russia has completed its three-day voting period for the State Duma, with preliminary results showing the ruling United Russia party winning more than half of the votes. Counting is still underway, and the final results have not yet been announced.
This is reported by Russian media.
According to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, preliminary turnout at the end of voting at 8:55 p.m. was 56.66%.
According to the All-Russian Centre for the Study of Public Opinion, United Russia received 49.4% of the vote, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation received 14.2%, the Liberal Democratic Party received 10.7%, New People received 9.7%, and A Just Russia received 6.6%.
According to INSOMAR (a Russian research and sociological company), United Russia is gaining 52.8%, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation 14.8%, the Liberal Democratic Party 9.9%, New People 8.6%, and A Just Russia 5.5%.
The last polling stations closed at 9:00 PM in the Kaliningrad region.
The State Duma elections were held in the absence of political competition, and in the fifth year of the war, when Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries caused fuel shortages, the range of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes is increasing every day, and the Russian army is in deep crisis.
Most candidates who openly opposed the war in Ukraine were barred from the election. In August, Russia’s Supreme Court revoked the registration of Yabloko’s federal list, the only registered party that openly opposed the war.
Russia also did not invite independent international observers.
Recall that on September 18, “Pryamiy” wrote that voting in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation had begun in the occupied Crimea. Local residents are calling the current campaign “the quietest elections.”
The day before, it became known that the Russian Federation had prepared over seven million ballots for voting in the occupied territories, while the lists formed by the occupation authorities had significantly fewer “voters.”
