Wanted to strike a military fuel tanker: Russian agent detained in Odessa region

The Security Service of Ukraine has detained an FSB agent in the Odessa region who was helping Russian troops prepare strikes on fuel infrastructure and the supply of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The man was caught installing a GPS beacon on a military fuel tanker so that the enemy could track its route and strike in real time.

The SBU reported this.

According to the investigation, the suspect was a local unemployed man who was recruited by the Russian special services through Telegram channels, where he was looking for a quick buck. After being recruited, a Russian handler instructed him to find potential targets, buy GPS trackers, and discreetly install them on the desired objects.

In addition to the military fuel truck, the agent collected information about gas stations, the locations of Ukrzaliznytsia freight trains, and Defense Forces fuel trucks. According to the plan of the occupiers, strikes on these facilities were to disrupt the supply of fuel to Ukrainian troops and destabilize the situation in the south of the country.

During the detention, SBU officers seized a GPS tracker that the attacker planned to activate on military transport, as well as a mobile phone with evidence of cooperation with the Russian special services.

The detainee was informed of suspicion of high treason committed under martial law (Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The court chose for him a preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to post bail. If proven guilty, the man faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As a reminder, the SBU counterintelligence prevented a large-scale terrorist attack in Ivano-Frankivsk, which, according to the investigation, was being prepared by Russian special services. The occupants planned to carry out two explosions in the courtyard of a residential complex: the first in the parking lot, and the second after rescuers, medics, law enforcement officers, and local residents arrived at the scene.

As reported, the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police prevented a terrorist attack near one of the administrative buildings in the center of Kyiv and detained two FSB agents. After planting the explosive device, the suspects tried to flee to Russia through Belarus.
