Warehouse explosion in the UK, industrial area on fire

On the evening of September 24, a major explosion occurred in the Groundwell industrial area in Swindon, located in the British county of Wiltshire. The incident occurred at around 7:30 p.m. local time.

Police, medical services and more than a dozen fire engines quickly arrived at the scene. According to representatives of the local fire department, rescuers focused their efforts on extinguishing the fire that engulfed the warehouse. The burning is accompanied by heavy smoke and high temperatures, which makes it difficult to control the fire.

Law enforcement officers began evacuating the population from areas adjacent to the explosion zone and urged residents to remain indoors with their windows closed.

Witnesses to the incident described a loud explosion, so powerful that vibrations were transmitted through buildings. The detonation sent a column of fire rising over the area, visible from a great distance.
