Warming is deceptive: severe frosts will hit the country in just a few days

In recent days, Ukraine has been experiencing significant warming, and tomorrow, January 28, the temperature will remain above zero in most regions during the day. At the same time, forecasters warn that severe frosts will hit the country starting January 30, lasting until early February.

This weather forecast was presented by the thematic portals Sinoptik and Meteofor.

According to the forecast of Natalka Didenko and the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, today, January 27 , the warmest weather will be in the west of the country – from +1 to +6 degrees during the day, in Crimea up to +6°, in the south +1…+3°. In the east and in the Zaporizhia region, the frost will intensify: from -2 to -9°. The central regions expect 0…-5°, in the north – near zero in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions, up to -6° in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

Cloudy weather with wet snow and rain will cover most regions, no significant precipitation is expected in the east. The southeast wind will strengthen, strong and gusty in places, only in the west it will be moderate.

Wet snow and freezing rain are forecast in the capital today, which could cause ice. Temperatures will range from -4° at night to -1° during the day.

Forecasters are promising positive weather across Ukraine on January 28–29 . During the day, the temperature will be from 0 to +3° in most areas, and up to +10° in the south and Transcarpathia.

However, a sharp cold snap is expected from January 30 : frosts will reach -24° at night in the west, north, and central regions, and during the day it will be from -8° to -14°. In the south and east of Ukraine, frosts will be weaker – around zero or slightly below zero.

According to Natalia Goleni from the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, the new cold wave will last approximately until February 4–5. “Daytime temperatures in the west, north, and center will reach from -8° to -14°, and in places at night – up to -24°,” the forecaster warned.

Ukrainians are advised to prepare in advance for a sharp cold snap and monitor forecast updates, especially when planning trips and working outdoors.
