“We admire your resilience”: Trump congratulates Ukraine on Independence Day

US President Donald Trump congratulated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Ukrainians on the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine’s Independence.

Zelenskyy announced this on the social network X, publishing a letter from the American president.

In his greeting, Trump noted that on behalf of the American people, he congratulates Zelensky and the citizens of Ukraine on Independence Day.

He emphasized the strong relationship between the United States and Ukraine, which is based on 35 years of diplomatic ties.

“Thanks to courageous, brave, and talented people, you have built a great country. As we mark this important date, know that the United States admires your resilience, honors your sacrifices, and remains confident in your future as a sovereign, prosperous nation,” the letter says.

Trump also called for using this opportunity to end the war and create a strong and lasting peace that will open up opportunities for Ukraine to develop in the future.

Zelensky thanked Trump and the Americans for their congratulations and support. He noted that the US President’s words give Ukrainians strength and hope that life can be protected from Russian attacks and a dignified peace can be achieved.

“These words, like the sounds of the launch of Patriot PAC-3 missiles, lift our spirits and give hope that life can be protected from brutal Russian attacks and that a dignified peace can be achieved,” Zelensky wrote.

Earlier, it was reported that British Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced a possible trip to the United States in September with other European leaders. They plan to convince President Donald Trump to transfer some of the American stockpile of Patriot interceptor missiles to Ukraine.
