Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the US-Russia diesel fuel deal and stressed that the Ukrainian strikes directly affect the work of the Russian oil refining industry. He also spoke about the energy truce, the threat of a food crisis, and the possibility of holding elections.

Zelenskyy stated this during the Warsaw Security Forum.

The President drew attention to the agreement between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin regarding the supply of Russian diesel .

“Why didn’t America sign an agreement on the supply of diesel with Ukraine? We determine whether tankers with fuel move. We decide whether Russian oil refineries will operate,” Zelensky said.

Energy truce

Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is ready to stop attacks on Russian refineries, but only on condition of reciprocity.

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian side did not attack Russian oil refineries last night.

“Last night, Russian refineries were not on fire,” he emphasized.

Instead, Russia continued to attack Ukrainian energy.

“Unfortunately, today the Ukrainian sky was swarming with Russian “Shaheds” all day. There were also strikes by glide bombs on our energy infrastructure,” the president said.

Zelensky warned that Ukraine would be held accountable if Moscow did not comply with the proposed regime.

“Putin doesn’t read Truth Social”

The president also commented on the energy truce announced by Trump.

According to him, Russian attacks continued even when the US president announced the alleged agreement.

“It was clear that Putin does not read Truth Social, and his Shahed drones follow other instructions. But these posts are actually about what affects the lives of millions of people, and this makes them very, very important,” Zelensky noted.

Ukraine, according to the president, is ready to provide guarantees regarding compliance with the cessation of strikes, but is waiting for details of contacts between Washington and Moscow.

“We are waiting for the details of the conversation between the Americans and the Russians, and we are waiting to see what concrete steps the Americans are willing to take,” he said.

Zelensky added that an energy ceasefire could be an important step towards ending the war if Russia actually adheres to it.

“Everyone talks about diesel, but forgets about grain”

Separately, the president warned that the problem is not limited to energy.

“Everyone is talking about diesel, but they are forgetting about grain,” Zelensky said.

According to him, problems with Ukrainian maritime exports may affect food supplies to other regions of the world in the coming months.

“Believe me, in two or three months everyone will be talking about a crisis in agriculture, because there will be a food shortage for the countries of the African continent, for some countries in Asia, the Middle East, because we export millions of tons of food to these markets,” he said.

“And now the sea is blocked, and the United States does not feel it. So the problem here is not only in energy,” Zelensky added.

Elections possible after ceasefire

During the same speech, the president also spoke about the possibility of holding elections in Ukraine.

“Now, Russian attacks, within the framework of their new concept, involve shelling every hour. Therefore, it is impossible to hold elections under such circumstances,” Zelensky said.

At the same time, he declared his readiness to discuss elections in the event of a complete ceasefire.

“So, of course, a complete ceasefire is necessary. And then, despite the fact that this is impossible at the level of our legislation, if there is a ceasefire and if the Americans reach such an agreement with the Russians, I am ready,” the president noted.

Previously, Trump asked Ukraine to stop strikes on Russian refineries , linking them to the situation on the global diesel market.

In addition, according to media reports, American representatives threatened Ukraine with the cessation of intelligence sharing if attacks on Russian oil refineries continued.
