In 2026, Ukraine may receive several new types of weapons at once for the first time, which will significantly strengthen the capabilities of the Air Force and the Defense Forces as a whole. These include fighter jets, early warning aircraft, modern air defense systems, as well as cruise and ballistic missiles.
This is reported by Defense Express.
Ukraine’s partners plan to continue supplying Western weapons, and in parallel, the Defense Forces should receive new models of domestic development. Although the list of future supplies is not exhaustive, some systems may appear in 2026.
Among the expected new products are the Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighters. These are primarily used C/D version aircraft. They can strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force and ensure the use of long-range Meteor missiles with a range of up to 200 kilometers, which other fighters currently in service with Ukraine do not have.
Ukraine may also receive Saab 340 AEW&C early warning and control aircraft for the first time. Their use will significantly expand the capabilities of air defense and aviation, in particular in detecting cruise missiles and drones, as well as in using air-to-air missiles at maximum range.
Among air defense systems, the possible transfer of the latest SAMP/T NG complexes is being considered. Even the first prototypes may arrive in Ukraine in 2026. These systems are positioned as one of the most powerful in Europe, in particular with the ability to intercept ballistic targets.
Ukrainian developments will play a separate role. In 2026, the Defense Forces may receive the FP-7 ballistic missile with a claimed range of up to 200 kilometers. In parallel, work is underway on the FP-9, which will have a range of up to 855 kilometers and a much more powerful warhead.
In addition, the partners plan to supply cruise missiles under the ERAM project with a range of up to 400 kilometers. Due to their relatively low cost, these munitions could become a mass long-range tool for Ukraine.
Taken together, these systems could mean a qualitatively new level of capabilities for the Ukrainian army as early as 2026.
It was previously reported that European countries that are ready to join the so-called “coalition of the willing” are considering sending up to 15,000 troops to Ukraine during the first six months after the end of hostilities.
