If a person is caught on the street by Russian shelling, it is important to know where to seek shelter and how to protect themselves if explosions are already happening nearby. The State Emergency Service explained how to act in such situations, in particular if the person is with a child.

This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

The first thing you need to do is get to the nearest shelter as quickly as possible. If there is none nearby, you can take shelter in the subway, underpass, or parking lot. You should also look for a recess or stairwell in the nearest building. It is dangerous to stay in the middle of the street or in an open area.

If explosions are already happening nearby and there is no time to get to cover, you should lie down on the ground and find any available hole.

Rescuers advise lying face down, crossing your legs, covering your head with your hands, closing your eyes, and opening your mouth . You should not raise your head unless absolutely necessary. This position helps protect you from debris and reduces the impact of the shock wave.

If a person with a child is caught in the shelling, they should be placed in a hollow and covered with themselves . After that, the adult should also lie face down and protect their head.

The State Emergency Service urges you to find out in advance where there is a shelter, underpass, parking lot, or other place nearby where you can hide during a sudden attack.
