What will Dumbledore be like in the Harry Potter series? The first images are already available.

Production on the Harry Potter series is in full swing. The first images of the new Dumbledore have recently surfaced online. He will be played by 79-year-old John Lithgow.

In a photo circulating online, the actor appeared in a long blue robe, vest, and velvet trousers. His look was completed with long white hair, a beard, and glasses.

Filming took place on a sandy beach, where the actor performed scenes while walking through the shallows, as if casting a spell. In one shot, he can be seen keeping his distance.

John previously admitted that the offer to play the legendary wizard came as a surprise to him.

“It was a tough decision because the role will define the last part of my life. But I’m excited. Some wonderful people are paying attention to Harry Potter. I think I’ll be about 87 when filming is finished, but I said yes,” he shared.

As a reminder, HBO announced the start of filming for the Harry Potter series in July 2025. However, the creators of the new adaptation may stretch out over decades.
