Severe frosts in Ukraine will not recede in the near future, and a slight warming is possible only at the end of January.

This was reported by Natalia Ptukha, a forecaster at the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, Interfaxreports .

According to her, no significant changes in weather conditions are expected in Ukraine in the coming days. Forecasters do not predict an additional decrease in temperature, but there will be no significant warming yet. Precipitation in Ukraine is also unlikely in the coming days.

According to the forecast of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center, from January 13 to 18, winter weather will persist in Ukraine with frosty nights and sub-zero temperatures during the day in most regions. It will be somewhat warmer in the south, southeast of the country, and in Transcarpathia.

The forecaster explained that the cold weather is caused by a combination of high atmospheric pressure near the earth’s surface and cold air masses in the upper atmosphere. The increase in pressure will ensure mostly dry weather throughout Ukraine.

A slight drop in temperature is expected in the Carpathians and Transcarpathia on Tuesday afternoon. Light snow is possible on January 15-16, which will hardly affect the northwestern regions. On January 16, precipitation may cover most of the country.

According to weather forecasters, the second decade of January will remain cool and below the climatic norm. Moderate warming is possible in the third decade of the month, but sub-zero temperatures will persist.

Ptukha also recalled that according to seasonal forecasts, December was expected to be warmer than normal, January was expected to be about one and a half degrees colder than the climatic norm, and February could be within normal limits or warmer.
