In Europe, it is estimated that the war in Ukraine may end by 2030, after which the continent will face new threats from the Russian Federation.
This was reported by the Chief of the General Staff of the Belgian Army, Frederic Vansina, in an interview with Le Soir.
“2030 will be a difficult time for Europe. By then, the war in Ukraine, we hope, will be over. Russia will be there with its army of 650,000 to 700,000 experienced soldiers,” he said.
According to Vansina, Europe should use this time to strengthen its defense capabilities and achieve a level of readiness that will deter Russia.
“In 2030, we should be able to tell Vladimir Putin that even without the Americans, he will not win the war against Europe. We still have several years ahead. Thanks to the courage and blood of Ukrainians who are buying this time for us,” he emphasized.
Vansina noted that the war has now reached a stalemate, but Russia retains significant military potential – up to 700,000 troops at the front.
“Russia has a functioning military economy that produces equipment every day, and the narrative remains offensive,” he added.
He also recalled the Kremlin’s plans to increase the army to 1.5 million people and the rhetoric about returning to the 1997 borders.
“After the war in Ukraine is over, Europe must be strong enough to deter the Russians,” Vansina concluded.
It was previously reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin may be considering a new war against Europe amid the difficulties in the war against Ukraine . At the same time, discussions are growing in the United States about the role of NATO and President Donald Trump’s position in the event of a potential conflict.
Recall that the Kremlin is actively forming the psychological and informational basis for a possible future war against NATO. At the same time , Russia is creating a network of “Trojan horses” , buying up real estate near military bases of NATO countries, to launch a coordinated sabotage campaign. The Kremlin has also intensified its propaganda campaign regarding the creation of the “Narva People’s Republic” , which may indicate that the Kremlin is preparing to attack Estonia.
