Europe will direct the first tranche of aid allocated within the billion-dollar loan to the purchase of drones for Ukraine.
This was stated the day before by European Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius, reported “European Truth”.
It is worth noting that the drones purchased with loan funds will be Ukrainian-made.
According to the official, Ukraine has requested defense assistance worth a total of over 28 billion euros this year.
“The first product supply plan focuses on drones from Ukraine’s advanced defense industry,” Kubilius explained.
He added that further plans are underway to involve the European defense industry more in the supply of future plans.
As a reminder, the European Commission expects that the first funds under the new €90 billion loan package for Ukraine may arrive by the end of the second quarter of 2026.
As is known, the European Union hopes to unblock a billion-dollar loan for Ukraine as soon as possible and impose new sanctions against Russia amid Viktor Orban’s defeat in the parliamentary elections in Hungary.
By the way, the future Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Magyar, stated that Budapest will lift its veto on a 90 billion loan for Ukraine after the restoration of the Druzhba oil pipeline .
