The Commissioner for Human Rights of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that no decisions have yet been made on the return of payments to the family of the released soldier Nazar Daletsky.
He spoke about this on the air of a telethon.
“No one can currently make legal decisions related to payments,” the ombudsman is convinced.
Lubinets noted that this is the first official case when a DNA test confirmed that a person had died, and later the Russian side transmitted information about the capture of a military man.
He stressed the need to clarify the details of the erroneous examination in order to minimize similar cases in the future. To do this, requests should be sent to the relevant structures, in particular the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Defense.
Among other things, he noted that it is necessary to collect “all information regarding the legal component” related to payments.
“First of all, I want to reassure Mr. Nazar and his family. Please do not accept the information that is currently circulating that someone has already made a decision that you are obliged to return funds to the state budget. In principle, no one could have made such a decision,” the official assured.
Earlier, the representative of the Ombudsman in the Lviv region, Taras Podvirny, reported thatthe family of soldier Nazar Daletsky, who was considered dead in 2023 and buried in the Lviv region, will be obliged to return state payments after his return from Russian captivity.
