US President Donald Trump said he was ready to help Poland and the Baltic countries if Russia continued to escalate in the region.
He answered this to journalists, Ukrinform reports .
When asked by the press whether Trump would defend NATO member countries if the situation escalated, he replied: “Yes, I would.”
His comment likely came amid reports of a lack of decisive action by the American president in response to a series of Russian provocations in Europe.
Earlier, Trump commented on the incident with Russian drones that violated Polish airspace on September 10. The politician did not rule out that this could have been an accident, but emphasized that he was not satisfied with this situation.
As noted, the lack of decisive US action emboldened Putin and accelerated efforts to destroy Ukraine and split NATO.
