Will the Vatican become a mediator between Ukraine and Russia: the Pope made a statement

Pope Leo XIV is convinced that Vatican mediation between Ukraine and Russia is unlikely.
He said this in an interview with Crux.
“I would distinguish between the voice of the Holy See in advocating peace and the role of mediator, which, in my opinion, is very different and not as realistic as the first,” the pontiff noted.
According to the Pope, he, Christians, and people of goodwill have always emphasized that peace is the only answer.
In addition, he noted that the Holy See has been making significant efforts since the beginning of the war to maintain a neutral position.
Previously, Pope Leo XIV proposed using the Vatican as a negotiating platform between Ukraine and Russia.
It is worth adding that during Sunday prayer with the faithful , Pope Leo XIV wished Ukraine a speedy, true and just peace .
