Will there be a major prisoner exchange at Easter: what is known?

Russia announced that they are preparing an exchange of prisoners of war with Ukraine on the eve of Easter.

This was reported by the Russian news agency TASS, citing the Russian human rights commissioner, Tatyana Moskalkova.

According to her, preparations are already underway, but details are not yet being revealed – neither about the format nor the date.

Also, according to Moskalkova, the parties agreed to give the prisoners the opportunity to celebrate Easter: to hand over Easter cakes and organize meetings with priests.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, the exchange is also expected during the holidays. Head of the President’s Office, Kyrylo Budanov, says that negotiations do not stop and continue every day.

He hopes that a large exchange will be held by Easter. According to him, the Ukrainian side is doing everything possible to make this happen.

Budanov recalled that since the Coordination Headquarters began its work, more than 70 exchanges have already taken place, within the framework of which more than 8,500 Ukrainians have returned home.

He also noted that international partners, including the United States and the United Arab Emirates, have helped in many difficult cases.

As previously reported, on February 5, Ukraine and Russia exchanged prisoners, and 157 military personnel of the Defense Forces were returned home.

As a reminder, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russians are not interested in exchanging people because they do not see any benefit for themselves in this.
