European Union leaders have postponed a decision on the use of frozen Russian assets until December.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
The reason for the postponement was Belgium’s position, which demanded additional guarantees that the country would not bear the risks associated with loans worth €140 billion.
During the discussions, EU leaders tasked the European Commission with preparing several options for solutions to be considered at the next summit. The aim, according to sources, is to reach a final agreement by the end of the year.
Previously, the issue of using frozen Russian assets was discussed in the context of financing aid to Ukraine and reducing risks for European countries.
It was previously reported that Washington decided not to support the European Union’s initiative to expand the use of frozen Russian assets to finance aid to Ukraine within the Group of Seven.
At the same time, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine recently allocated an additional 325 billion hryvnias , most of which are revenues from Russian assets, to the Defense Forces.
