In 2026, President Volodymyr Zelensky will not agree to the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of the Donetsk region.

This was the forecast given by Financial Times analysts.

According to them, Zelensky will most likely not agree to the Kremlin’s demand to withdraw the Armed Forces of Ukraine, since such a step is risky for Ukraine and contradicts the state’s Constitution.

In addition, analysts believe that the creation of a so-called demilitarized zone in the East will not satisfy either side.

According to the forecast, Ukraine will surrender only in the event of an unexpected and large-scale defense breakthrough. However, such a development of events is almost impossible.

Recall, according to Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov, a ceasefire in Ukraine is possible only after the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbas .

As is known,Ukraine is considering the possibility of withdrawing troops from Donbas , but only if Russia takes a similar step. This approach involves preserving the territory for Ukraine and parallel negotiations on security guarantees.

By the way, the head of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense, Kirill Budanov, stated that in 2026 the Russian Federation will focus its efforts on the complete occupation of Donbas and the Zaporizhia region .
