The Polish Sejm has adopted a new law, which, in particular, addresses the status of Ukrainian refugees and payments for them.

This was reported in the RAR.

The relevant bill was supported by 227 deputies, 194 voted “against”, and seven more abstained.

It was developed after Polish President Karol Nawrocki failed to sign an amendment to the law on assistance to Ukrainian citizens at the end of August.

Thus, according to the new law, receiving the 800+ benefit will be linked to the professional activities of Ukrainians and the education of children in a Polish school. However, exceptions are also provided, for example, for people with disabilities.

At the same time, those foreigners who earn at least 50% of the minimum wage — PLN 2,333 — will be able to receive state assistance.

Every month, they will check whether Ukrainians are working: if the person was not economically active, the payment will be stopped. And in the register of the Chief Commander of the Border Guard, it will be monitored whether Ukrainians have left the country and the place of residence of children in Poland will be checked.

Among other things, restrictions will be introduced on access to medical services for adult citizens of Ukraine. These include health care programs, medical rehabilitation, and dental treatment.

In addition, the new legislation provides for the extension of the legal status of Ukrainians’ stay in Poland until March 4, 2026.

Earlier, Polish President Karol Nawrocki vetoed the law on providing social assistance and free medical care to Ukrainian citizens staying in the country.
