Will women be mobilized in Ukraine: the Rada gave an answer

Ukraine is not preparing for mandatory mobilization of women. There are no bills or other legislative initiatives in the Verkhovna Rada that would provide for such changes.

This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence.

The committee stressed that the parliament is not currently considering any legislative initiatives regarding women’s mobilization. There are also no internal discussions on this issue.

They noted that public statements by individual speakers about the possible introduction of mandatory mobilization of women do not reflect either the current work of the parliament or the position of the relevant committee.

The committee also reminded that Ukrainian women can join the Defense Forces voluntarily. There is currently no mandatory mobilization for them, and preparations for its introduction are not underway.

The Verkhovna Rada urged Ukrainians not to succumb to information manipulation and to check reports about possible changes to mobilization rules in official sources.

As a reminder, an electronic petition has been registered on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a proposal to introduce military service for able-bodied women who do not have children. The author of the appeal believes that this will allow for a more equitable distribution of responsibilities for defending the state during war.
