Ukraine has already received the first batch of equipment for the energy sector from Germany, including two cogeneration plants, generators, and other critically needed equipment.

This was announced by Prime Minister Yulia Svyridenko.

The assistance was provided as part of the winter emergency support package, increased to 120 million euros.

The received equipment has already been put into operation. The equipment will provide heat and electricity to over 86 thousand people in Kyiv, and will also help power residential buildings, hospitals, kindergartens, and schools.

In the near future, 41 more cogeneration plants with a total capacity of 40.8 MW and 76 modular boiler houses will arrive in Ukraine. According to Svyrydenko, thanks to the equipment, millions of people across the country will have light and heat.

In addition, the emergency aid package will contain 300 solar stations, 375 battery storage units for backup power supply, 15 mobile hybrid generators, 10 pellet heating systems, and 45 units of construction equipment for urgent repair work.

In total, the German government has allocated €60 million for humanitarian needs this winter and contributed €167 million to the Energy Support Fund.

“At a time when the enemy is destroying energy infrastructure every day and cynically trying to plunge cities into cold and darkness, timely assistance from our partners helps meet people’s needs. We are grateful to Germany for its prompt response to our request and our long-term strategic partnership in the energy and other sectors,” Svyrydenko emphasized.

It was previously reported that Germany plans to transfer more than 30 mobile thermal power plants to Ukraine in the near future , which will provide electricity and heat for part of the population.

As is known, as of January 29 , hundreds of settlements in several regions were left without electricity due to Russian shelling of the Ukrainian power system and the consequences of bad weather.
