Heavy snowfalls occurred in western regions of Ukraine on the night of November 22, covering Lviv, Rivne, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The precipitation caused traffic congestion, power outages, and intensive work of utility services.

On the night of November 22, western Ukraine was covered with heavy snowfall. In Lviv, snow fell on the evening of November 21, and in the morning a layer covered roads, sidewalks and roofs. The city’s municipal services have been working in an intensified mode since night, with more than 1,000 janitors and about 70 pieces of equipment involved in the cleaning.



In Lviv region, bad weather led to large-scale power outages. 159 settlements were left without electricity, of which 83 were completely and 76 partially. 46 emergency crews and 69 pieces of equipment are working to restore electricity.
Snowfall has also complicated the situation on the roads. Snow removal equipment has been working in Rivne since the morning of November 22, as light precipitation quickly turned into a blizzard. In Volyn, road traffic is ensured, but road services warn of possible ice formation.
In Ivano-Frankivsk, snow has covered trees, lawns, and cars, and roads are slippery in places. Residents are urged to drive carefully.
Forecasters are warning of further deterioration in weather conditions. According to forecasts, significant sleet, ice, and sleet accumulation are expected in the western regions on November 22-23.
“Whoever lives in the western regions or is going there on the weekend. Bad weather is expected! Wet snow, snow, sleet, icy roads, and anything is possible! It is advisable to refrain from traveling to the western regions in the dark and from further trips,” Didenko warned.
In Lviv, the bad weather also affected sporting events. Before the match between Karpaty and Metalist 1925, the Ukraina stadium was completely covered in snow. Arena workers began clearing the lawn and painted red lines for better visibility. ![]()


An orange level of danger has been declared in the western regions, which means a risk of material damage and a threat to life. Municipal services are urging drivers and pedestrians to be as careful as possible, plan routes in advance, and avoid traveling during bad weather.
It was previously reported that unstable weather is forecast in Ukraine with temperature drops, rain and sleet in various regions . According to forecaster Natalia Ptukha, the coming days will be characterized by significant fluctuations and contrasts.
