With US assistance: Belarus frees five Ukrainian citizens from captivity

The Belarusian regime, in agreement with the United States, has released five Ukrainian citizens who were held captive. They are being returned home, and further releases of other Ukrainian and international political prisoners are planned.
This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the president, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, reported on the preparation of special measures to release Ukrainian citizens from Belarusian prisons.
“Thanks to the active role of the United States and the cooperation of our intelligence services, about a hundred people are now being released, including five Ukrainians. We are helping our American partners to provide appropriate assistance to Ukraine. If necessary, special services from our neighbors in Europe are also involved,” Zelenskyy noted.
The President added that he instructed the GUR and other services represented in the Coordination Headquarters to maximize their work on the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war who are in Russia.
“So that by the new year the release of Ukrainian prisoners of war can take place. We remember all our people who are still in Russian captivity,” Zelenskyy noted.
Belarus has confirmed that 123 political prisoners from various countries are being released under an agreement with the United States. The confirmation was published by channels unofficially associated with self-proclaimed President Alexander Lukashenko.
“The Head of State has decided to pardon 123 citizens of various countries convicted under the Laws of the Republic of Belarus for committing crimes of various kinds,” one of the channels wrote.
According to information, recently, thanks to the efforts of other states, 156 people have been released from the clutches of the Lukashenko regime, including citizens of the UK, USA, Lithuania, Ukraine, Latvia, Australia, and Japan.
By the way, US President’s representative John Cole, during a meeting with Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, stated that Washington had decided to lift sanctions on Belarusian potash in accordance with the instructions of President Donald Trump.
