Withdrawal from Donbas in exchange for security guarantees: Zelensky spoke about the US offer

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the United States is offering Ukraine a complete withdrawal from Donbas in exchange for security guarantees necessary for a peace agreement.

Zelensky has repeatedly stressed the need for reliable security guarantees to ensure that Russia does not attack Ukraine again.

“The Americans are ready to complete the processing of these guarantees at a high level as soon as Ukraine is ready to withdraw troops from Donbas,” the president said.

However, according to him, this option would jeopardize the security of not only Ukraine, but also Europe.

If the Ukrainian Armed Forces withdraw from the territory of Donbas, they will give up strong defensive lines.

“President Trump, unfortunately, in my opinion, is still choosing the strategy of increasing pressure on the Ukrainian side,” Zelensky added.

It was previously reported that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is convinced that the Russian army is winning the war, so he is ready to continue fighting for Donbas.

Recall that Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia will have to spend at least two years and pay the price of about 800,000 dead soldiers to occupy eastern Ukraine.
