Without any explanation: German military leaves Greenland early

A group of Bundeswehr soldiers has ended their stay in Greenland early and left the island. The planned NATO mission was completed without a public explanation from the German authorities.

According to the publication, 15 representatives of the German military contingent, along with the command, departed from the administrative center of Greenland, the city of Nuuk, on an Icelandair flight.
Journalists recorded the moment the military boarded the plane. It is reported that the operation was completed well ahead of schedule, and no official statements or explanations for the reasons for this decision were made public.
According to media reports, the directive to immediately terminate the mission and evacuate came directly from Germany in the morning hours. In connection with this, all planned meetings, negotiations and events were immediately canceled.
The publication notes that the day before, the head of the delegation, Stefan Pauli, stated that he was expecting final instructions from Berlin regarding the further stages of the unit’s stay on the island.
The circumstances of the hasty departure remain unknown. Journalists report that there is currently no official confirmation of the possible reasons for the early termination of the mission.
It is noted that the German military contingent arrived in Greenland just a few days ago. The visit took place within the framework of strategic cooperation between NATO countries and was agreed upon with the Danish authorities.
On the eve, European countries reacted to US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose additional tariffs on eight European countries over their position on Greenland. The European Union announced the preparation of a coordinated response and support for Denmark.
