Without prolonged frosts and permanent snow: what will winter be like in Ukraine?

Former head of the Ukrhydrometeorological Center Mykola Kulbida said that the winter of 2025–2026 in Ukraine will likely be mild and short, without prolonged frosts and heavy snowfalls. At the same time, short but noticeable periods of cold snaps are expected.

This is reported by ” Telegraph “.

Mykola Kulbida noted that over the past 12–15 years, Ukraine has been experiencing a steady trend of increasing air temperatures in the winter. According to him, this heating season, the average temperature may also exceed the norm.

“Based on statistical data, we can cautiously assume that this year’s winter will also be mild,” Kulbida said.

At the same time, the forecaster emphasized that short-term cooling is still expected.

“Of course, there will be periods of fairly severe frosts, but they will not last long, because in modern climatic conditions, a long-lasting cold winter is almost impossible,” he explained.

According to the meteorologist, snow cover in most regions of the country will be low, and precipitation will be limited.

“The situation may vary depending on the region, but in general, winters will remain snowless. Snow will either appear or disappear quickly,” Kulbida added.

The specialist also emphasized that climate change continues to affect seasonality in Ukraine, and a similar trend will continue in the future.

We would like to remind you that during November 4-5, an atmospheric front will move across the territory of Ukraine from the west , which will bring rain to most regions. Despite the precipitation, the air temperature will remain quite comfortable for the beginning of November.
